Leading fibre artist Monique Ross named Cossack Artist In Residence
Brisbane based artist Monique Ross been selected as the Cossack Art Awards 2025 Artist in Residence.
The Artist in Residence program, sponsored by Principal Partner Rio Tinto, returns to the historic town of Cossack, which Monique Ross will call home during her four-week residency.
A fibre artist specialising in contemporary weaving, Monique utilises natural fibres to explore texture, movement and organic form.
Her work holds stories and memories of place, and symbolises the interconnection and interdependence of all living things.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the City is delighted to present Monique Ross as this years’ Cossack Arts Awards Artist in Residence.
“The Cossack Art Awards are one of the most significant events in the Western Australian arts & culture calendar and provide a unique platform for local artists to showcase their talents," Cr Scott said.
“Monique is a brilliant artist from Brisbane, and I look forward to seeing the work that comes out of the residency.”
