Frequently asked questions

When do entries close?

Entries close on Friday 24th May 2024, or when 300 entries have been reached - whichever happens first.

How many artworks will be accepted for the exhibition?

A maximum of 300 artworks will be accepted. Entries will close either when this limit is reached or by 4 pm on Friday, 24 May 2024, whichever comes first.

What is the entry fee, and is it refundable?

The entry fee is $50 per artwork, and it is non-refundable.

When will payment be made for sold artworks?

Payment for sold artworks will be made via EFT within 60 days of the close of the exhibition.

Who is eligible to enter the Cossack Art Awards?

Entrants must be 16 years or older and Australian residents.

Can I submit multiple artworks?

No, only one artwork per artist may be submitted.

Are there specific requirements for the artworks?

Yes, artworks must be two-dimensional, completed by an individual artist, and meet specified size and weight limits. They must also be fitted with appropriate hanging devices as stated in the terms and conditions.

What happens if my artwork exceeds the recommended size and weight?

Entries that exceed the recommended size and weight will be deemed ineligible and will not be accepted.

Who owns the copyright to the exhibited artworks?

Copyright remains with the artist, but the City of Karratha has rights to use exhibited works for promotional purposes.

How are the winners determined?

Once the judges' decisions are final, the winners will be announced at the Gala opening night on the 20th July and the People’s Choice Winner will be announced at the Fortescue Children's Art Day on 11 August 2024.

Where will winning pieces be displayed after the awards?

Winning pieces, including the People's Choice winner, will be displayed at the Red Earth Arts Precinct as part of a free public exhibition.

Yes, certain categories such as Portraits, North West Flora & Fauna, Works on Paper, Pilbara Landscape, and Painting by Pilbara Indigenous Artist have specific entry requirements outlined in the terms and conditions.
