Who we are

From humble beginnings in Western Australia’s resources heartland, the Cossack Art Awards have grown in size and stature over the years to become one of the richest acquisitive art awards in regional Australia.

Cossack, known as Bajinhurrba in Ngarluma language, and formerly known as Tien Tsin, is a historic town located 1,480km north of Perth and 50km from the Karratha.

The Cossack Art Awards continue to grow as the highlight of the cultural calendar within the region as a nationally significant art prize.

For three weeks across July and August, the small town of Cossack comes alive with hundreds of vibrant artworks showcasing the very best artistic talent across the Pilbara and Australia. An Artist in Residence is hosted each year and a range of Public Programs are presented to generate interest in the visual arts and craft in our region, providing skills development opportunities for local artists, art enthusiasts and visitors.

The City of Karratha with support from Principal Partner Rio Tinto look forward to sharing the 2025 Cossack Art Awards Exhibition with everyone.

Our 2025 exhibition will be open from 20 July through to 10 August 2025. Entries to the 2025 exhibition are set to open in March.
