ANNOUNCING ANNETTE PETERSON AS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE 2022



The City of Karratha is delighted to announce that Perth-based artist Annette Peterson will work as Artist in Residence from a dedicated studio at Cossack from 11 July to 7 August 2022 for the Cossack Art Awards 2022, supported by our Principal Partner Rio Tinto. She’s a Perth-based artist who primarily works in Oil Paint, Photography, Digital Animation.

During her four week residency, she plans to take a unique approach to experiencing the Pilbara landscape, focusing upon the unseen but felt moments and movement in the landscape.  She will provide two workshops for the general public while at Cossack and one for high school students.

About Annette Peterson 
Born in Norway, Annette has a Graduate Certificate, Art and Design, BA Honours (Fine Art) and Master of Applied Design and Art (Visual Art) from Curtin University. She also has a Bachelor of Arts: Psychology and English Literature, University of Western Australia. She’s presented solo exhibitions at the Mundaring Art Centre, Northern Metropolitan TAFE, Bunbury Regional Art Gallery, The Orangery Gallery, Wish You Were Here Gallery and Blend(er) Gallery in Perth.  She’s also been involved in many group exhibitions, the most recent being the 2022 Wanneroo Art Awards. 

Her works are held in public collections at City of Stirling, Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital and City of Melville. 
Her public art commissions can be seen at St John’s Lutheran Church, Perth and Lights in the Heights, Hepburn Heights, WA.  She has won numerous awards including the 2021 Overall Acquisitive Winner for the Stirling City Council Art Awards 2021.  Annette has spent time in the Pilbara previously working as a Journalist for the Pilbara Times.
